If Solace Had an Address

One foot in quicksand

and another ready to run

to laughter, to love;

to anywhere that brings light

to ivory cheeks

too long hidden from the sun.

If solace had an address,

I would have sent myself long ago;

grew wings and left fear

in the murky waters

of a fragile life

so far in the distance

that is doesn’t even echo anymore.
