Those eyes,
more mean spirited
than I remember,

greet me
in an unexpected interlude,
guard down,
you quickly get my defenses up,
like most manipulators do,

You must have forgotten
not to shake me
when my heart is showing.

I will hang your laundry out to dry-
naked, in the streets
with wind to whisper truths,

gathering moss,
and as much mercy

as you have shown me.

  1. Oh I heard it loud and clear…for what it was…JUST what it was, and ALL that it is. I actually admired the accomplishment as a communication, let alone the usual enjoyment as a poem. It was a skilled piece on other, deeper levels…

…and as I often strive for that with my own poetry, to see you do it and do it well was a thrill.
