Amaryllis

Out of the darkness,
shining like a red moon

after years in the shadows,
breaking free from the hate;
from the spell you cast on me.

Fragile wings take flight
wrestling the night
like a firefly
circling lonely stars,
just trying to find my color,
again;

Blooming like a new life,
untangled
from the old, tired songs

still undone, broken,
but mending.
dancing with poppies,
on a blue, blue day.

standing, small but reckless;
restless, painted red and ready
for fields, lush;
these waiting arms
reaching upward.

I can breathe, now,
grow away from pain

and into this love.
