Let’s Meet in the Middle

Meet me
where our initials dance
in- between a cross,

within a heart.

Kiss and don’t tell
anyone but the wind.

Let’s find the farthest star,
and make it shine;
send smoke signals
after we cross – over

and build a bridge
~~ ~
from here
to after,

run barefoot
through wildflowers
until daylight turns
into dusk,

trading succinct syllables
and vulnerable vowels
until our muses fall asleep

and then,
stay with me

even in dreams.
