There’s a mountain
in the distance
and every reason under the sun
to surrender,
but a small voice lingers
in the back of your mind,

in the bottom
of your aching heart.

One step forward,
two steps back,
but you keep climbing,
staff dug in,
wind rushing through locks;
heart inviting tears

and when you get to the top,
there is a song, reverberating
upon once-deaf ears;
a love,

a declaration
of his glory.

(I am penning a poem a day from November 24th through December 25th, 2016 to celebrate the birth of Jesus. This is day #12)
