How lovely it is
to have a heart so filled with love
that there is scarcely a square inch
to make room

for more affection,
more tenderness
to tie a ribbon around
and share
with a friend, a stranger;
this gift
of love.

Fingers turn pages,
eyes scan scripture after scripture
in this book with golden edges
and I cannot find a word
more beautiful,
more innate,
more powerful than love.
